Pollination
Definition
Pollination is the transfer of pollen that allows a flower to develop into fruit. Some trees can do this alone, while others need pollen from a compatible variety planted nearby, carried by insects or wind. If blossoms are lost to frost or no compatible partner is present, a healthy tree may bear little fruit. Check the label or ask the nursery whether a variety needs a pollination partner.
