Self-Fertile

Definition

Self-fertile describes a tree that can set fruit without pollen from a different variety. Many peaches, apricots and lemons are self-fertile, so a single tree can fruit in a small garden. Many pears and plums set better with a pollination partner. Self-fertile does not mean the tree will fruit without sun, shelter and suitable winter cold, so check what the variety needs.
